The Red Tent Studio finds its origins in the ancient practice of women's culture. Earth-based cultures, across time and around the world, understood the nurturing power created by women societies. Integral to these societies was the common practice of the menstrual tent, or, better known as "the red tent." The red tent was a place of reverence, where women would go to connect with the eternal feminine. Inspired by the ancestral call, the Red Tent Dance Studio invites women to come and create in a space unique to women.
The women of the Red Tent leave the competitive world of envy and strife, and enter the spiraling energies of sharing and outrageous fun, where women open and unfold. There is no such thing as the "best dancer." And choreography is shared by all. "If someone has self-esteem issues, we will work with her, support her, because things like this will come out."
The Red Tent Dance Studio, carefully chosen to be away from the main byways, rests within a quiet neighborhood, under an arbor of green leaves. A silent sweet presence drifts at the door's entrance. Inside, the space shifts and moves in the mosaic of light, silk, and colored pillows. This is a place of possibility where things change once their time has come. For this reason, the Rent Tent is for women passed their first moon. Their time has come. Safe and primal, the women experience their beauty and all their femininity in a relaxed and enchanted place. |
